it would seem that May is the month the garden truly begins to make noise. I was sitting in the foxgloves today, enjoying the warmth of the sun on my fur. My companion struggled a few feet from me with a shovel and huge clod of dirt and weeds. She was uttering unprintable words and snarling. I have no understanding of this process at all. She digs a huge shovel full of dirt and green grass and rocks and then heaves it into the wheelbarrow. If she enjoys this why does she snarl and snorffle and if she does not, then why does she do it at all. Humans are a great mystery...a great mystery. Finally she threw the shovel down, snatched me from my reverie and plunged her nose into my fur ,taking a deep breath, then proclaimed I smelled like sunshine. Madness, I tell you. She suffers from madness. She put me down and I tried to reclaim my serenity , but alas, I was overcome with the sounds the garden makes , the rustling, the growing, the buzzing and humming, the bird sounds, and sounds of creatures crawling just beneath the ground. So many sounds...fun to sort and identify and pinpoint and pounce on.I enjoy an afternoon in the garden with my companion , she is just part of the entertainment.
Someone who purchased the Dreamer planter, from my companion , because it reminded her of her Maine Coon Cats, sent pictures to my companion and she used one for the cats of the month. She is quite enamored of these cats. I have to say they are rather special to look at . Their companion said "Maine Coons are often referred to as gentle giants because they are so large and sweet tempered. These two live up to that, Weeji is 20lbs and Misty is 16lbs.They are 38-40" from nose to end of tail and Weeji is so long he can stand up and reach to the center of the kitchen counter" I must say I wish I could do that sometimes. I will put pictures of them in here so you can see for
yourselves how tall they are. Are they not amazing? My companion brushes me every day but she wonders what the care for these two must be like.
I must say I, myself, have fallen into sighs over Misty . Here is a picture of her looking demure.
So, the month of May rolls onward and I get to spend many hours on the deck or in the garden chasing things that buzz and hum and rustle. And, I love the hours in the sun , just perfect this time of year. Not yet too hot, but just right for whiling away a bit of dreaming time...because that is the vocation of cats.
